The direct way into south-western Corsica: Corsica Linea usually leaves Marseille at 18:30 and berths the next morning in Propriano, deep inside the Gulf of Valinco. The port is in the town itself – a few steps from the ship to the quayside cafés. Sartène, the Alta Rocca and Bonifacio are far quicker from here than from Ajaccio or Bastia.
Corsica Linea serves Propriano all year, but not every day. Across 21 days sampled in August and September 2026 there was a departure on 16 of them, almost always at 18:30; in August daytime crossings were added on Wednesdays and Sundays. The sailings below come live from the timetable.

From Marseille the ship heads south-east across the western Mediterranean, then along Corsica's south-west coast into the Gulf of Valinco. Propriano sits deep in the bay, sheltered between Olmeto and Campomoro – the last half hour is already spent running along the Corsican shore.

How the total price adds up
A small port with one big advantage: if you are heading for southern Corsica, you skip the mountain drive.
Propriano is worked by the Paglia Orba and the Vizzavona. Both carry freight as well as passengers: less bustle on board than on the big Ajaccio ferries, and quiet cabins in return. Since January 2026 a climate contribution of €5 per person and €8 per vehicle applies to each crossing.
From Propriano it is about an hour and a quarter to Bonifacio, twenty minutes to Sartène and just under an hour into the Alta Rocca. From Ajaccio add a good hour of mountain road to each; from Bastia, three. If the south of the island is your destination, arriving in Propriano means you are practically there. The trade-off: fewer sailings and no daily service.
The standard 18:30 departure is an overnight crossing arriving around 07:30 or 08:00. In summer there are additional morning departures taking about eleven hours and arriving in the evening. The daytime option saves the cabin but costs a full holiday day at sea – in exchange you watch the Corsican coast come up in daylight.

The ships on this route have fewer cabins than the large Ajaccio ferries, so the cheaper categories go early on summer sailings. Without one it is thirteen hours in a reclining seat.
Corsica Linea asks foot passengers to arrive about 90 minutes ahead, more with a vehicle. The approach roads to the northern terminals in Marseille are busy on summer evenings – add another half hour of buffer.
Marseille is a long drive from most of Europe, and on a route that does not sail daily a missed departure can cost two days rather than one. Break the journey the night before instead of arriving on the last stretch of a twelve-hour drive.
Taking your own vehicle to Corsica
Southern Corsica is about the roads between the bays: Campomoro, Roccapina, Bonifacio. Public transport barely reaches them – and over two or three weeks your own vehicle is almost always cheaper than a high-season rental.
The overnight crossing takes about 13 hours. Across 21 days sampled in August and September 2026 the scheduled times ranged from 11 to 14 hours – the summer daytime sailings are the fastest.
The standard departure is 18:30, arriving around 07:30 to 08:00. In August, daytime departures at 08:00 or 08:30 were added on Wednesdays and Sundays, arriving in the evening. The route does not run daily.

It is not compulsory – reclining seats are available. But on a thirteen-hour overnight crossing the cabin is the difference between arriving rested and arriving wrecked. On the summer daytime sailings you do not need one.
