Midweek day crossings are the budget option
The lowest passenger fares in our archive were all on Tuesday-to-Thursday day sailings. Friday and Sunday evenings with cabin cost several times as much.

The easternmost ferry link between Sweden and Poland: Stena Line sails two to three times a day between Karlskrona in Blekinge and Gdynia on the Bay of Gdańsk, taking around 10 hours – as a day crossing or an overnight ferry with cabin. The natural route between eastern Sweden, Stockholm and the Baltic coast on one side and Gdańsk, Warsaw and central Europe on the other.
As of August 2026: a morning day sailing (08:00, 10:00 from Karlskrona at weekends) plus one or two overnight departures between 20:00 and 22:30. Overnight ferries partly stay alongside until morning – which is why the timetable shows 9 h 45 min to 11 h 45 min for the same route.
| Departure | Arrival | Duration | Operator | Ship |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 08:00 | 17:45 | 585 min | Stena Line | Stena Line vessel |
| 10:00 | 20:45 | 645 min | Stena Line | Stena Line vessel |
| 20:00 | 06:00 (+1) | 600 min | Stena Line | Stena Ebba |
From Karlskrona the ferry threads through the Blekinge archipelago, passes Bornholm and crosses the southern Baltic south-east to Gdynia, part of the Tricity with Gdańsk and Sopot.
Four routes connect the two countries – the right one depends on where you start and where you are heading.

Rule of thumb: west of Poznań use Świnoujście, east of it use Gdynia. Travelling to or from Stockholm without the 500 km drive through Sweden, take Nynäshamn–Gdańsk.
The long crossing has one big advantage: it removes hundreds of kilometres of driving, and the night on board replaces a hotel.
Evening departures around 20:00–22:30 reach the destination port between 06:00 and 08:45. Book a cabin and you step off rested with a full day ahead – no hotel night, no driving in the dark.
Karlskrona sits on the E22: Kalmar, Öland, the Kingdom of Crystal and the east coast up to Stockholm are reached without the detour via Malmö. From Gdynia, Warsaw is about 4 hours by road.
Stena Ebba and Stena Estelle are among the newest ferries on the Baltic, joined by Stena Spirit: restaurants, shop, children’s area and open deck make the ten hours pass quickly.
What our timetable archive and experience show – for a cheaper, calmer crossing.
The lowest passenger fares in our archive were all on Tuesday-to-Thursday day sailings. Friday and Sunday evenings with cabin cost several times as much.
Ten hours in a seat is a long time. Inside cabins are the cheapest; if you want to wake up to the sea, choose an outside cabin. Book early – cabins sell out first at weekends.
Swedish summer holidays (mid-June to mid-August) and Polish long weekends fill the ferries first. A week earlier or later is often much cheaper.
Roof boxes, bike racks and trailers count towards length and height. Paying the difference at the terminal is far more expensive than getting it right when booking.
Dogs and cats are permitted on the route and must be added at booking. Conditions and fees are shown by Stena Line in the booking step; an EU pet passport and microchip are required.
Overnight ferry
Leave at 20:00 or 22:00, sleep in your cabin and drive off refreshed between 06:00 and 08:45 – ten hours of crossing become a day gained rather than lost.
Location, getting there and other connections from both ports.
Around 10 hours. The 08:00 day crossing takes 9 h 45 min; overnight ferries partly stay in port until morning and are therefore listed with up to 11 h 45 min.
Passenger fares in August 2026 ranged from €34 to about €280 per person depending on date, sailing and demand. Vehicle and cabin prices are shown in the Stena Line booking step.
Two to three times a day in each direction: a morning day sailing and one or two overnight departures in the evening. Exact times are in the timetable above.
From eastern Sweden, Kalmar and Stockholm, Karlskrona is closest and lands you in the Tricity. From Skåne, Malmö or Copenhagen, Ystad or Trelleborg is nearer and the crossing shorter (6–8 hours) – but you arrive in western Poland.
Not on the day crossing. On the overnight sailing a cabin is strongly recommended – category and price are chosen at booking.
In Karlskrona on Verkö island about 10 km east of the town on the E22. In Gdynia on ul. Kwiatkowskiego in the port area, reached via the Trasa Kwiatkowskiego.
